May 12 2022Six years ago at the John F. Kennedy Library, we launched our Coalition. It was a truly unforgettable day, not just because Anna was 9 months pregnant. We have been reflecting on our collective work through the strategic planning process we started this spring. Though we’ve only just begun, we wanted to share a bit of our thinking so far and see how it resonates with all of you. The graphic below summarizes our ‘starting point’ for this work. Beyond the hidden curriculum: students speak up about their training in serious illness communication
Apr 27 2022The Massachusetts Medical Schools’ Collaborative conducted eight focus groups with medical students to understand their perspectives on their training in serious illness communication and palliative care. In this qualitative study, 50 fourth-year medical students from Boston University School of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, Tufts University School of Medicine, and UMass Chan Medical School shared their thoughts and experience. Six key themes emerged.
