HCA Program Highlighted on WHYY's, The Pulse

David Sontag, director of ethics for Beth Israel Lahey Health, discussed the HCA Program in a recent interview on WHYY’s, The Pulse. The interview highlighted the promise of the HCA program as an approach to ensure an individual can choose their own health care agent to represent them and personally communicate their priorities and preferences to that agent. In David's words, “This is an opportunity for us to help some of the most vulnerable members of our communities, those who have nobody to speak for them when they can no longer speak for themselves. And that allows us to respect their autonomy throughout their lives”.
